Goa, April 19 -- Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh announced no date set for the next round of negotiations with the United States, following the breakdown of high-level talks in Islamabad last weekend, the highest engagement since the Iranian Revolution. He blamed a "maximalist approach" from the US side for the impasse, despite some initial progress.

Speaking on the sidelines of a diplomacy forum in Antalya, Khatibzadeh stressed Tehran's priority: finalizing a basic "framework of understanding" before resuming discussions. "We don't want to enter into any negotiation or meeting which is doomed to fail and which can be a pretext for another round of escalation," he cautioned.
