Goa, Sept. 2 -- The death toll from devastating flash floods in Nepal has crossed 1,050, with nearly 4,000 people still missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA). Around 12,000 people have so far been rescued as security forces continue search and recovery operations across several districts.

The floods, which struck northern and central Nepal on August 26, were triggered by the collapse or avalanche of ice and rock near the Nepal-Tibet border. Floodwaters entered Rasuwa through the Bhotekoshi River and swept away homes, vehicles, roads and bridges, while also damaging hydropower projects.
