Goa, Aug. 12 -- Two people, including a two-year-old child, died and six others were injured after a fire broke out on the 11th floor of a 12-storey building in Vile Parle West on Tuesday night.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade received the fire call at around 10.02 pm. The blaze was initially classified as a Level-1 fire at 10.08 pm before being escalated to Level-2 at 10.16 pm.

The fire was confined to electrical wiring and installations, an air-conditioning unit, household articles, a sofa, bed, false ceiling and kitchen utensils. The affected area was estimated at around 4,000 square feet.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control and completely extinguished it at around 1 am.
