Goa, Aug. 29 -- A major tragedy was reportedly averted after a Mumbai-Panaji-bound bus entered a National Highway flyover construction zone at Naibag, damaging the vehicle.

The bus reportedly moved into an area where excavation work had been carried out for a bridge pillar. The incident could have had serious consequences if the vehicle had slipped into the deep excavation pit.

While the bus sustained damage, passengers escaped what could have been a major accident. The incident has raised concerns over safety measures and the need for proper barricading around ongoing highway construction work.
