Goa, Sept. 14 -- Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar performed the Ganesh Sthapana pooja on the first day of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at the Murgaocha Raja Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandap in Sada.

The pooja marked the beginning of the nine-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, which have been organised at the venue since 2009.

Speaking on the occasion, Amonkar said the celebrations would feature a variety of programmes over the nine days. He urged devotees to participate in the festivities with faith and devotion and seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

The celebrations at Sada are expected to draw devotees from the surrounding areas during the festive period.
