Goa, July 6 -- A 47-year-old labourer who had been reported missing was found dead in the Chapora River at Thorli Chanai in Pirna on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Tukaram Gavade, a native of Belagavi, Karnataka. He had been residing in a rented accommodation at Pirna while working in the area.

Police recovered the body from the river after receiving information about the incident. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances leading to Gavade's death. Further details are awaited as police continue their inquiry.
