Messi Creates More World Cup History as Argentina Beat Jordan 3-1
Goa, June 28 -- Lionel Messi added another remarkable chapter to his legendary career as Argentina defeated Jordan 3-1 in their final FIFA World Cup 2026 group-stage match.
Coming off the bench in the second half, the 39-year-old curled in a stunning free-kick to become the first player to score in seven consecutive World Cup matches, taking his overall World Cup tally to 19 goals.
Giovani Lo Celso and Lautaro Martinez also scored as Argentina finished Group J with a perfect nine points and an 8-1 goal difference. The defending champions now advance to the Round of 32, where they will face Cape Verde, while Jordan bow out of the tournament.
