Goa, July 19 -- Kylian Mbappe etched his name into football history by becoming the FIFA World Cup's all-time leading goalscorer. The French forward scored twice against England in the third-place playoff to take his career tally to 22 World Cup goals, surpassing Lionel Messi's previous record of 21.

The goals also took Mbappe to 10 strikes in the 2026 tournament, putting him at the top of the Golden Boot standings. Remarkably, the 27-year-old achieved the milestone across just three World Cup editions.
