Goa, Oct. 24 -- The 78th birth anniversary of late Matanhy Saldanha, a prominent champion of Goa's traditional fishing community, was commemorated at Cansaulim with a garlanding ceremony organised by Goenchea Ramponkarancho Ekvott (GRE), former minister Alina Saldanha and well-wishers.

During the ceremony, GRE president Agnelo Rodrigues paid tribute to Saldanha, recalling his lifelong dedication and sacrifices towards protecting the rights, dignity and livelihoods of traditional fishers in Goa.
