India, March 26 -- Opposition is mounting against the proposed redevelopment of a municipal garden in Margao, with social activist Chirag Naik strongly objecting to the 3.96 crore project.
Naik stated that the garden is a vital public asset and should not be replaced with a two-storey structure, raising concerns over the loss of open space in the city.
Warning of intensified protest, he announced that he would begin a hunger strike from tomorrow if the project is not withdrawn by the authorities.
The issue has sparked fresh debate over urban development and the preservation of public spaces, with residents closely watching how authorities respond to the growing opposition.
