Goa, July 9 -- Mardol Police have registered an FIR after a resident of Marcel was allegedly cheated of Rs.2.01 lakh in an online fraud involving a fake e-challan message.

According to the complaint, the victim received a fraudulent e-challan notification on his mobile phone and clicked on the link provided in the message. He was then prompted to download an application and enter his credit card details.

Although the payment transaction reportedly failed, fraudsters allegedly used the card information to carry out unauthorised transactions amounting to Rs.2,01,250.
