Goa, July 10 -- Mapusa Police have seized a suspected cannabis (ganja) plant found near the old Urban Health Centre and sent it for forensic examination to confirm its identity. Acting on information from locals, PSI Dattaprasad Pandit, PSI Utkrant Dessai and other police personnel reached the spot, uprooted the plant, sealed it in a plastic bag and sent it for analysis. The action follows complaints from residents, who had earlier reported the plant and raised concerns over liquor bottles, cigarette packets and other litter in the area, alleging the location was being misused for illegal or nuisance activities.
