Goa, Sept. 12 -- The Mapusa Additional Sessions Court has granted regular bail to 43-year-old Girish Laxman Gaonkar in connection with an alleged bar assault and firearms case registered at Bicholim Police Station.

The court directed that Gaonkar be released on bail upon furnishing a personal bond of Rs.30,000 and one local surety of the same amount.

While granting bail, the court noted that the investigation had been completed and the chargesheet had already been filed. In view of these developments, the court observed that continued pre-trial detention was not warranted.

Gaonkar will now be released subject to the bail conditions imposed by the court.
