Goa, May 19 -- A major accident was narrowly avoided on the Mandovi Bridge after an Maharashtra-registered car was allegedly found driving on the wrong side of the road, triggering panic among commuters.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle entered the incorrect lane on the bridge and was heading directly towards an oncoming bus. The alertness and timely reaction of the bus driver reportedly helped avert a possible head-on collision.

The incident caused confusion among motorists and led to heavy traffic congestion on the bridge for some time, as vehicles slowed down amid safety concerns.
