Lok Sabha Passes Bill to Increase Supreme Court Judges' Strength to 38
Goa, Aug. 3 -- The Lok Sabha on Monday passed a bill replacing an ordinance that increases the sanctioned strength of Supreme Court judges from 34 to 38, including the Chief Justice of India. The legislation was cleared without a formal debate as opposition MPs raised slogans over the alleged NEET paper leak and claimed irregularities in Ram Temple donation funds. A statutory resolution moved by the opposition seeking to reject the ordinance was defeated through a voice vote. The move is aimed at strengthening the apex court by addressing the growing backlog of pending cases and improving judicial efficiency.
