Goa, Aug. 31 -- Lionel Messi has announced his retirement from international football, bringing the Argentina chapter of his legendary career to an end. But the 39-year-old forward is still active at club level with Inter Miami, where he continues to add to an extraordinary career goals tally.

Messi currently has 927 career goals in 1,171 appearances, leaving him 73 goals short of the remarkable 1,000-goal milestone.

His latest contribution came in spectacular fashion against Montreal in Major League Soccer. Messi scored four goals and provided an assist as Inter Miami recorded a 7-1 victory.
