MARGAO, July 5 -- The Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) is grappling with a shortage of nearly 200 buses, affecting its ability to efficiently operate public transport services across Goa and interstate routes.

KTCL Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar said the corporation is taking steps to strengthen its fleet and manpower by introducing new buses and recruiting additional staff.

The issue came into focus after a Goa-Kolhapur interstate bus was halted at Belagavi on Friday due to a headlight malfunction, causing inconvenience to passengers. Responding to the incident, Tuenkar acknowledged that the state-run transport corporation is operating under significant constraints owing to a shortage of buses, drivers and conductors.
