Goa, July 18 -- Iran has claimed responsibility for launching ballistic missiles and drones at US military aircraft stationed in Jordan, saying the attack was carried out in retaliation for overnight American airstrikes on multiple locations across the Islamic Republic. The strikes reportedly killed at least eight people.

The development comes amid rapidly escalating tensions in the Middle East. Earlier, Jordan's military said it had intercepted and destroyed three Iranian missiles over its territory, adding that there were no casualties or damage resulting from the incident.
