Goa, Sept. 24 -- The Indian Premier League 2027 auction will be held in Goa in December, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Wednesday, bringing the player recruitment event to the coastal state for the first time in the upcoming cycle.

Saikia said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had decided to stage the auction in Goa after the previous edition was hosted at overseas locations. The IPL auction has recently travelled outside India, with Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi among the venues used for previous events.

"This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations - Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi last year - we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December," Saikia told ANI.
