India Offers NDRF Teams, Medical Aid to Nepal After Flash Floods Kill 552
Goa, Aug. 29 -- India has offered to deploy teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to Nepal to assist with search-and-rescue operations following devastating flash floods that have killed at least 552 people on both sides of the Nepal-Tibet border.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday that India was also preparing additional humanitarian assistance at Nepal's request. The support is expected to include medical aid, engineering teams and equipment to help repair and restore critical infrastructure damaged by the floods.
The offer came hours after Nepal said it did not require foreign search-and-rescue teams, stating that its own security agencies had the capacity to manage the rescue and relief operations....
