Goa, Sept. 20 -- India made a strong start to their Asian Games 2026 campaign on Sunday, with athletes making their mark across shooting, cricket, hockey, badminton, table tennis and mixed martial arts in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

The Indian women's cricket team booked its place in the final after a commanding 114-run victory over Bangladesh in the second semi-final. Shafali Verma was the star of the contest, smashing an unbeaten 100 off 49 balls as India posted 195/4. Her century was the joint-fastest by an Indian in women's T20Is, matching Harmanpreet Kaur's record.
