Goa, Sept. 8 -- A huge jungle tree came crashing down on several houses behind Busy Bee School at Desterro in the early hours of Tuesday, causing extensive damage to multiple structures, including a godown.

According to sources, the incident occurred at around 4.30 am, when the massive tree suddenly collapsed onto the houses. A senior citizen residing in one of the affected homes was immediately evacuated from the site.

Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident.

Fire officer Dilip Bicholkar said the Fire and Emergency Services personnel are working to clear the fallen tree and debris. A crane has been sought from Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) to assist in removing the massive tree.
