Goa, July 6 -- Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar has demanded stringent action against owners of dilapidated buildings that endanger public safety, stating that those who fail to repair or secure unsafe structures should be held criminally liable if their negligence results in accidents, injuries or loss of life.

Salkar said building owners who knowingly ignore the hazardous condition of their properties must be held accountable for incidents caused by falling slabs, loose plaster or structural debris.

"Innocent pedestrians and motorists should not suffer because of the negligence of building owners. Action must be taken before a tragedy occurs," the MLA said, urging authorities to take preventive measures rather than waiting for disasters to ha...
