High Court Warns of Contempt Action Over Delay in Demolition of 'Murgao Cha Raja'
Goa, Oct. 5 -- The High Court has expressed strong displeasure over the failure of the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chief Officer to comply with its earlier order directing the demolition of the illegal structure popularly known as "Murgao Cha Raja".
The court had previously directed that the structure be demolished by September 30, 2026. However, the order has not been complied with, prompting the High Court to take serious note of the delay.
The court cautioned that formal contempt proceedings would be initiated against the concerned authorities if the structure is not demolished before the next hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
