High Court Reserves Order on Tarun Tejpal's Sentence After Rape Conviction
Goa, Aug. 6 -- The Bombay High Court has reserved its order on the quantum of sentence for senior journalist and former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal, after convicting him of raping a junior colleague in the 2013 case.
The court is expected to pronounce its order on sentencing later this afternoon.
Earlier in the day, the High Court overturned the trial court's acquittal of Tejpal, finding him guilty in the high-profile rape case involving a former junior colleague. The conviction marks a significant development in the case, which has remained under judicial scrutiny for more than a decade.
The quantum of punishment will be decided once the High Court delivers its sentencing order later today.
