India, March 30 -- A heavy police presence was deployed at Mirabag on Monday to prevent protesters from marching towards Panjim, officials said.

According to sources, authorities stationed a large contingent of police personnel in the area as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order and restrict the movement of demonstrators heading towards the state capital.

Barricades were put in place and security tightened at key points, effectively halting the protesters at Mirabag. Police officials monitored the situation closely to avoid any escalation.
