Goa, Aug. 12 -- Ajinkya Rahane's retirement has left Kolkata Knight Riders facing another leadership dilemma ahead of their IPL 2027 planning. After losing Shreyas Iyer following their 2024 title-winning campaign, KKR had relied on Rahane for stability. His retirement has once again forced the franchise to search for an experienced Indian leader.

According to multiple reports, KKR have identified Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya as their preferred target. However, Kolkata are not alone in the race, with seven of the 10 IPL franchises reportedly making preliminary inquiries about the all-rounder.
