Goa, Oct. 13 -- The Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) has temporarily suspended the acceptance of municipal solid waste at its Saligao processing facility for a period of 25 days, starting October 10. The shutdown follows essential maintenance requirements and unexpected operational challenges at the plant.

To avoid severe waste accumulation, GWMC has instructed local municipal councils to set up alternative disposal arrangements throughout the closure. Authorities are working to complete the necessary repairs efficiently, aiming to restore normal processing operations at the facility as scheduled after the temporary maintenance phase ends.
