Goa, May 1 -- The Goa United Workmen Union (GUWU) marked International Workers' Day at Velsao, expressing solidarity with workers and calling for stronger protection of labour rights.
The union urged the State Government to strictly enforce existing labour laws and demanded a 50% increase in minimum wages in view of rising living costs. GUWU also opposed the implementation of the four new Labour Codes, claiming they would weaken existing protections and impact job security and social welfare.
