Goa, Oct. 7 -- Police in Gujarat's Surendranagar district are investigating a disturbing case involving the alleged illegal confinement and assault of a woman, reportedly carried out under the pretext of religious purification.

The incident came to light after videos showing the alleged abuse were circulated on social media, prompting police to launch an investigation.

According to police, the footage showed the woman allegedly being confined and physically assaulted while a group of people gathered around and mocked her.
