Goa, July 28 -- The Goa Water Metro project has moved into the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage, with the Goa Government appointing Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) to prepare the report over the next three to four months.

River Navigation Minister Subhash Phal Dessai said the first phase of the ambitious project is expected to include nine water metro routes aimed at enhancing inland water transport across the state.

Phaldesai said the project received priority approval from the Centre after a proposal was submitted by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, with support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
