India, March 31 -- Goa is set to become the first state in the country to introduce a new molecule similar to Ozempic, aimed at advancing treatment options, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced.

Highlighting the state's ongoing healthcare initiatives, Rane said that the government is already providing cancer screening and newborn baby screening services, along with free insulin for patients in need.

Speaking about the upcoming drug rollout, he emphasised that while initiating treatment with Ozempic-like medication may be relatively straightforward, continuous monitoring of patients' health parameters remains crucial.
