Goa, Oct. 27 -- At the 16th CII Conference, experts discussed sustainable decarbonisation for India's 490-million-tonne cement sector, which has replaced 7.5% of coal consumption with alternative fuels. Goa Waste Management Corporation Managing Director Harish revealed that Goa has reclaimed 2 lakh square metres of land by clearing legacy dumps. The state supplies nearly 75,000 metric tonnes of refuse-derived fuel to cement plants annually. Industry leaders emphasized that source segregation, advanced waste processing, and government-industry partnerships are critical for reaching zero-landfill goals and advancing India's 2070 carbon-neutrality target.
