Goa, July 6 -- The Goa government has revised its proposal to support the state's motorcycle taxi pilots by offering a 50 per cent subsidy on heavier electric bikes instead of providing free electric vehicles, Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho announced.

Speaking on the initiative, Godinho said the decision was taken after considering the operational requirements of motorcycle taxi pilots, who require more robust electric bikes for their day-to-day work.

He clarified that the scheme will be entirely voluntary, allowing pilots to decide whether they wish to avail of the subsidised electric bikes.
