Goa, May 9 -- A delegation led by Sanjay Barde along with four other residents submitted a memorandum to the Electricity Department opposing the mandatory installation of smart electricity meters for consumers in the state.
During a meeting with department officials, the group urged the government to continue the existing postpaid electricity billing system and expressed concerns over the proposal to make smart meters compulsory for all consumers.
The residents appealed for greater consumer choice and transparency in the implementation process, arguing that consumers should have the option to continue with the current billing mechanism if they choose.
