Goa, May 2 -- An FIR has been registered by Goa Police against Govind Shirodkar following a complaint filed by Sujan Naik and others, alleging that his remarks hurt religious sentiments. According to officials, the complaint was verified before action was taken. The case has been booked under Sections 299 and 196 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with offences related to outraging religious feelings.

Police stated that evidence, including the social media post in question, has been collected and is being examined as part of the investigation. Authorities added that the complainants specifically alleged that Shirodkar's statements were offensive to their beliefs.
