Goa, July 1 -- State proposes expanding native bamboo cultivation to protect coastlines, curb soil erosion and support biodiversity.

The Goa government is planning to expand bamboo cultivation across ecologically sensitive coastal and sloping areas as part of its broader efforts to strengthen climate resilience and achieve carbon neutrality.

The proposal, recently reviewed by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), focuses on restoring native bamboo species in vulnerable regions to enhance coastal protection, minimise soil erosion, promote ecological restoration and increase carbon sequestration.
