India, April 1 -- Citizens for Democracy (CFD) Goa, led by convenor Elvis Gomes, has accused the State Government and State Election Commission of deliberately stalling municipal elections for political gain. Addressing media, Gomes called the delay and administrator appointments "unconstitutional," violating Article 243U mandating polls before a municipality's five-year term ends.Travel Guides & Travelogues

He cited the Sandeep Vazarkar v. State of Goa judgment upholding timely elections as "inviolable." Gomes alleged double standards, noting early Corporation of the City of Panaji polls used a defunct electoral roll, a clear constitutional breach.
