Goa Human Rights Commission Takes Suo Motu Cognisance of Water Crisis in Curchorem
PANAJI, Oct. 8 -- The Goa Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of a newspaper report highlighting the difficulties faced by residents of Curchorem, who reportedly spend sleepless nights trying to secure water.
The Commission initiated proceedings after taking note of a report published in O Heraldo on October 8, 2026, titled "Curchorem residents spend sleepless nights to fill water".
In its order dated October 8, the Commission directed the Chief Secretary of the Goa government and the Chief Executive Engineer of the Department of Drinking Water to respond to the matter.
