Goa Human Rights Commission Issues Notices Over Removal of Protest Shelter at Azad Maidan
Goa, Aug. 5 -- The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has issued notices to the North Goa Collector and the Commissioner of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) after taking cognisance of a complaint alleging that the temporary rain shelter of a protester at Azad Maidan was dismantled, exposing him to severe monsoon conditions.
The complaint was filed by Rati Rama Kankonkar, wife of social activist and Scheduled Tribe (ST) community leader Rama Kankonkar, who has been on an indefinite peaceful protest at Azad Maidan since August 1.
