Goa, Aug. 13 -- The Commission has given the Directorate of Women and Child Development 60 days to submit an Action Taken Report on the rehabilitation home's shortcomings.

The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has raised serious concerns over safety risks, deteriorating infrastructure and administrative delays at Apna Ghar, the state-run rehabilitation home for children at Merces.

Following a surprise inspection conducted on August 3, 2026, the Commission issued a detailed report highlighting several deficiencies at the facility. These reportedly include structural damage, non-functional security systems and delays in carrying out essential repairs.
