Goa High Court to Deliver Verdict on August 6 in State's Appeal Against Tarun Tejpal Acquittal
Goa, Aug. 5 -- The Goa High Court has scheduled August 6 for the pronouncement of its judgment in the criminal appeal filed by the Government of Goa challenging the trial court's acquittal of senior journalist and former Tehelka Editor-in-Chief, Tarun Tejpal, in the 2013 rape case.
The state had appealed against the trial court's verdict, which acquitted Tejpal of charges relating to the alleged rape of a junior colleague who was employed at Tehelka at the time of the incident in 2013.
The High Court has directed Tarun Tejpal to remain personally present in court when the judgment is pronounced on August 6.
