Goa, April 20 -- The Bombay High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the issue of dead fish found floating in Mala Lake, raising concerns over environmental and public health implications.

In its action, the court has registered a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on its own and has made the Directorate of Health Services a respondent in the matter. The move signals the seriousness with which the court is viewing the incident and its potential impact.

The matter is scheduled to be heard on Monday, during which the court is expected to seek explanations from the concerned authorities and review the steps taken to address the situation.
