Goa, May 18 -- The Water Resources Department (WRD) has initiated emergency measures to maintain adequate water levels for the Opa water purification plant amid rising demand. Officials said water is being diverted into the Khandepar river through pumping from mining pits in Codli and nearby areas. Additional water is also being channelled from the Ganjem bandhara and Selaulim sources to support supply operations. Authorities stated that the move is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted raw water availability for treatment and continuous public distribution across affected regions in Goa.
