India, March 6 -- Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has stated that the state government consulted all stakeholders before implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) and deciding to shift the academic year to April.

Addressing the matter, the Chief Minister said the decision was taken after discussions with concerned parties to ensure a smooth transition in the education system.

Sawant also clarified that only a limited portion of April would actually be used for academic activities.

"Only about 20 days of April are used for academic activities," the Chief Minister said, explaining that the change would not place a significant burden on students or the academic schedule.
