Goa, Aug. 15 -- Goa has become the first state in India to adopt the Happiness Index as part of its development approach, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said during his Independence Day address on Saturday. Sawant said the initiative reflects the government's focus on measuring progress beyond conventional economic indicators. The Happiness Index aims to place greater emphasis on people's happiness, quality of life and overall well-being. According to the Chief Minister, Goa's development model will increasingly consider how policies and growth impact the lives of citizens, alongside economic progress and infrastructure development.
