Goa Faces Nearly 50% Monsoon Rainfall Deficit; CM Pramod Sawant Directs Water Conservation Measures
Goa, June 15 -- Goa has recorded a nearly 50 per cent rainfall deficit during the ongoing monsoon season, prompting the state government to step up preparedness for potential water management challenges if the shortfall persists.
According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state has received approximately 97 mm of rainfall since June 1, against the normal expected rainfall of 192.8 mm, reflecting a deficit of around 49.6 per cent.
In response to the situation, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has instructed the Water Resources Department and other concerned agencies to formulate strategies for efficient water management and ensure the optimal utilisation of available resources.
