Goa Equates ITI With Class 12, Sparks Debate on Skills vs Degrees
Goa, July 17 -- Goa's decision to recognise students who complete Class 10 and a two-year Industrial Training Institute (ITI) course as equivalent to Class 12 has sparked a fresh debate on the future of vocational education in India. The move, which allows eligible students to receive a Goa Board equivalency certificate, aims to improve access to higher education and employment opportunities for ITI graduates.
Under the new policy, students completing the vocational route will be able to pursue higher studies without facing the limitations that traditionally accompanied ITI qualifications. The state has also introduced stronger links between ITIs and colleges, enabling students to continue their education if they choose.
