Goa demands: No voter left behind, no vote denied
PANJIM, Oct. 11 -- Alleging widespread disenfranchisement and manipulation of the electoral process, activists, politicians, lawyers and civil society groups came together at Azad Maidan on Saturday, demanding the scrapping of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and a ban on electronic voting machines (EVMs).
Organised under the banner of Ami Goenche Rakhandar, the protest brought together political representatives and concerned citizens around a demand - safeguards to ensure that no eligible voter is denied the right to vote and every vote is protected.
