Goa, May 1 -- The Goa government has declared Sunday, May 10, 2026, a paid holiday in view of polling for by-elections in select village panchayat wards. The elections will take place in Ward VII of Pissurlem, Ward I of Dongurli-Thane, Ward III of Batim, and Ward I of Verna. The move aims to ensure maximum voter participation by allowing employees to cast their votes without work constraints. The order applies to government offices, industrial workers, and commercial establishments in the notified areas. Employers have been directed to grant paid leave, while counting dates will be announced later.
